Today is a day when entrepreneurs can feel motivated to be doing what they are doing. A day when we can reflect and reassess our strategies and how they have been implemented, and how we can move forward.
Today, 21 August is World Entrepreneur Day.
Although many entrepreneurs are probably stressed and tired from the constant grind and work ethic that differentiates us all from everyone else, we also need to find a space where we can take a second to stop, assess, and execute the most appropriate path forward. Our ideas and vision may be the best or worst in the world, however, it comes down to how you put it into your practice, into your life.
In a recent Facebook status, Mark Zuckerburg responded to a question about how often he works, and, how he has pushed his vision of changing the world. His response was incomprehensibly humbling; "I would say that I am in the office for about 50-60 hours a week for what could be called 'real work'. As for the rest of my time, I spend my entire life focusing on my mission." We can also take a few lessons away from his response as it indicates just how important focusing on your mission, values and vision really is.
'Tom, it's just another day with a title.. What's your point?'
Entrepreneurs are constantly pressed for results over the process. There aren't many moments that entrepreneurial minds can be freed from the dissatisfaction of other people who chose to be an employee. Think of it like this: we celebrate our birthday each year because it reflects a part of who we are - our age. In the same way, entrepreneurs should celebrate August 21st each year because it is also a part of us.
To sum things up, happy World Entrepreneur Day! ... Now I have to get back to work!..
